TLDR: This car is awesome and I built a website to show you how awesome it is! http://gt40.rkmotorscharlotte.com/

This is one of those projects that I will never NOT be proud of. If you know the story of this iconic vehicle and the Le Mans race, then you won't need any more info after you saw that paint job! The team at Theory Communication and Design was tasked with documenting the full restore process of this car once it was purchased by our clients at RK Motors Charlotte. One arm of our team video-documented the months of work that went into physically restoring this vehicle. It was grueling but they crushed it! While those videos were being made of the restore, our content writers got to work on perfecting the intricate details of the race, the car and all of the excitement therein.

Once the videos were created and the content was all written, I was tasked with pulling it all together and leading a team to create a website to showcase it. We designed and built this site out over the course of a 3 week sprint. We started with a few concepts, such as the scrolling carousel of the vehicle on the opening page and the overlay of the racetrack which included tidbits of the story of the race. After we nailed down some of the fancier features that we wanted to use, we got to work building the site out. We started with a simple Ruby On Rails app for speed of development with a full compliment of Gulp, SASS and Vanilla Javscript. From there we made opted against putting the content in a CMS. We knew if we were going to get the site done in time, we needed to be as lean as possible on our tech stack. To compile and serve the site, we utilized Middleman and Heroku.
